Why not try your hand at "Kumiko," a traditional Japanese craft, right in front of Toyama Station?
"Kumikoza - Toyama Craft Lounge -" will be holding a summer-only Kumiko workshop from July 24th (Fri) to August 31st (Mon), 2026.
This is a hands-on crafting experience where you create your own unique piece by assembling small wooden parts one by one. It's perfect for families to participate together, but adults can also enjoy it on their own.
It's perfect for creating summer vacation memories or for independent research projects.
Summer vacation limited experience menu
Soccer ball kumiko
You assemble 47 wooden parts one by one to create the shape of a soccer ball.
Because you can follow along with the sketches and instructions, it's recommended even for those who are new to kumiko (traditional Japanese woodworking).

Time required: about 30 minutes
Target age: 3th grade and above
Capacity: 10 people
Butterfly Kumiko
You can create a one-of-a-kind original piece by freely combining your favorite parts with a butterfly-shaped kumiko (traditional Japanese woodworking) frame.
This is a special experience where you can enjoy creating your own unique design while considering combinations of colors and patterns.

Time required: about 60 minutes
Target age: 3th grade and above
Capacity: 10 people

Those who make a reservation in advance will receive a "Shippo Kumiko" (cloisonné latticework) as a gift.
