The Sanno Festival, held at Hie Shrine in the center of Toyama City,
This is a large festival held in early summer, which has been affectionately known as "Sanno-san" for generations.

Every year from May 31st to June 2nd, approximately 500 food stalls line the streets around Hie Shrine and throughout the town. The air is filled with the aromas of traditional festival foods such as fried chicken, anbayashi, and dondon-yaki, creating a lively atmosphere that makes your heart sing just by walking around.

During the day, lion dances and portable shrine processions parade through the towns of the parishioners, and as dusk falls, the lights of the food stalls come on.
The changing scenery of the town between day and night is also a major attraction of the Sanno Festival.

Sanno-san is a historic festival that has continued since the Edo period as the main local festival of Toyama Castle town, and it remains popular with many people today.
You can enjoy a typical early summer scene in Toyama, where the atmosphere of a traditional festival blends with the hustle and bustle of modern Toyama city center.

It's easily accessible from Toyama Station, and its appeal lies in the fact that you can enjoy it in conjunction with sightseeing in the city center.
Please come and enjoy the three most vibrant days of early summer in Toyama at Sanno-san.
