Iwase Walking Course / Tourist Volunteer Guide
A townscape of Kitamaebune trading posts, registered as a Japan Heritage site.
Iwase in Toyama City, registered as a Japan Heritage site in 2018, was a port of call for Kitamae ships that sailed across rough seas, carrying the dreams of men. We will guide you through the historic streets of Iwase, including the townscape with its traditional bamboo fences, the Mori family residence (a nationally designated important cultural property, currently closed due to the effects of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake), the Baba family residence (the leading of the five great Iwase families), the Toyama Port observation deck where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Tateyama mountain range and the Noto Peninsula on a clear day, and the Suwa Shrine where a grand float festival is held in the spring. The course can be adjusted to suit your schedule. Please feel free to contact us.
