Toyama City experiences many cloudy or snowy (rainy) days, with less sunshine and higher humidity compared to the Pacific coast.
Heavy snowfall typically occurs from late December to mid-February.
The maximum daily snowfall is 29 cm, but it can exceed 50 cm during peak snowfall periods.
The average temperature in January is 2.7°C, with a minimum temperature of -0.1°C, so caution may be needed regarding freezing temperatures and low temperatures. However, the minimum temperature is not usually that low compared to the average temperature, and it is rare to have a "midwinter day" (a day when the maximum temperature is below 0°C).
If you are coming by car, you will need winter tires (studded tires). Please bring a shovel and a snow brush to remove snow from your car.
