🌻 In summer in Toyama, I went to see sunflowers.
Sunflowers, the official flower of Toyama City, add color to the summer scenery throughout the city.
Just like sunflowers that bloom powerfully towards the sun, we want to nurture connections between people and hope for the future. With this in mind, Toyama City is working on the "Sunflower Project."
From spots you can enjoy along with the train, to parks in the city center, and events at Toyama Station.
The best time to see them is usually from around mid-August.
Here are some sunflower spots in Toyama City that you'll want to enjoy in the summer of 2026.

1. Toyama City Agricultural Support Center
🌻Sunflowers will be in full bloom around mid-August 2026.

The sunflower field at the Toyama City Agricultural Support Center is being cultivated together with local children.
Along the Toyama Chihō Railway Kamitaki Line, in the fields that stretch out, when the sunflowers are in full bloom, you can enjoy a quintessential Toyama summer scene with sunflowers, the local railway trains, and on clear days, the Tateyama mountain range all visible in the background.

During the peak season, a field of yellow sunflowers stretches out beside the residential area, offering a quintessential summer scene.

One of its attractions is being able to view the sunflower field from a slightly elevated position and take photos.

Events to enjoy together | SUNFLOWER Toyama Station 2026
🌻 Event Period: July 25th (Sat) - August 21st (Fri), 2026
Sunflowers blooming in the city center at Toyama Station.
From July 25th (Saturday) to August 21st (Friday), 2026, sunflowers will be lit up in the plaza in front of the south exit of Toyama Station, and sunflower photographs will be displayed in locations such as in front of the Shinkansen ticket gates at Toyama Station.
Additionally, on July 25th (Saturday) only, special events will be held, including a handmade fan workshop and a calligraphy performance by calligrapher Dai Mori.
Furthermore, from August 1st (Saturday) to August 30th (Sunday), a streetcar wrapped in sunflower designs will also be in operation.
In addition to visiting sunflower spots, why not enjoy a summery moment at Toyama Station at the start or end of your trip?
