Jinzu River Cherry Blossom Embankment and Shio no Senbonzakura (Senbonzakura)
Enjoy the spring along the Jinzu River, lined with cherry trees.

Nishijinzu and Nakajinzu, located on an island in the Jinzu River, are part of a ring-dike area surrounded by embankments. A 4.8-kilometer corridor lined with 800 cherry trees is known as the "Jinzu River Cherry Blossom Embankment." Another notable feature is the "Shio no Senbonzakura," a cherry blossom embankment of approximately 200 trees stretching for about 1 kilometer, located in Shio, Toyama City, on the right bank of the Jinzu River, which flows through the center of Toyama Prefecture. The name "Shio" (salt) is said to originate from an old legend in which a god predicted that good salt could be found in a nearby pond, and indeed, good salt was discovered. This spot offers a chance to enjoy the collaboration of daffodils and cherry blossoms.
The Jinzu River Cherry Blossom Embankment and the Shio Senbonzakura (Senbonzakura) together boast a total of 1,000 cherry trees, making it a cherry blossom viewing spot of a scale that can be proudly presented to the entire country.

Jōsai Waterway Promenade
A pleasant spring breeze blows along the cherry blossom-lined path beside the irrigation canal.

The Jōsai Gōguchi irrigation canal flows alongside the Jōganji River, and a walking path has been built along its banks. In spring, you can enjoy views of Mount Tateyama while admiring the many cherry trees planted along the approximately 1km-long walking path.
The history of flood control on the Joganji River dates back to 1580. Lord Sasa Narimasa, who entered Etchu Province as a retainer of Oda Nobunaga, improved the Joganji River, which had recently flooded, and built a dike by gathering large stones. Part of that dike, known as "Sasa Embankment," still remains today in the Jōsai Gōguchi irrigation canal.
* The Jōsai Gōkuchi Irrigation Canal was designated a "World Heritage Irrigation Structure" on December 8, 2020.
