Toyama's specialty, "Ayame Dango," with its rich brown sugar syrup and chewy texture, is a local soul food.

"If there's one local specialty that has been loved by the people of Toyama for a long time, it's 'Ayame Dango'."
Although it looks like mitarashi dango (rice dumplings with sweet soy glaze), the taste is completely different, and its distinguishing feature is the generous amount of thick, gooey black sugar glaze made with brown sugar.

The brown sugar syrup uses brown sugar from Hateruma Island in Okinawa, resulting in a rich and deep sweetness.
The dango (rice dumplings) are made with a blend of Shin-Taisho glutinous rice from Toyama Prefecture, resulting in a chewy, slightly springy texture.

Perfect for a quick snack on the go, or packed in a food container to take home as a gift.
This is a classic sweet treat you can find in the city center of Toyama.
