This walking tour is perfect for first-time visitors to Toyama City and can be enjoyed in 1.5 to 2 hours.

Starting from the north exit of Toyama Station, we will take you on foot to popular spots in the area north of the station, such as Fugan Canal Kansui Park, Tenmon Bridge, Starbucks Coffee Toyama Kansui Park store, and Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art.

With waterfront views, cafes, art, and scenic spots all conveniently located within walking distance of the station, it's a great place for a stroll before or after checking into your hotel.

From Tenmon Bridge, you can overlook the Fugan Canal and the entire park, and on clear days, you can even see the Tateyama mountain range. At the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art, you can experience art and design, and also enjoy expansive views from the rooftop garden, "Onomatopoeia Rooftop."

It's perfect for daytime strolls around town, but also recommended for evening walks or for enjoying the illuminated scenery before or after meals.

Toyama Station (North Exit)

From Toyama Station North Exit, take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront.

Toyama Station is the gateway to Toyama tourism, with the Hokuriku Shinkansen and streetcars all converging there.

The area around the north exit of the station has been developed with spacious pedestrian areas, boulevards, and new facilities, giving the area a new vibrancy.

A short walk from the station will take you to the Fugan Canal Kansui Park area, which stretches along the canal. It's a great place to spend some free time after arriving, before or after hotel check-in, or before or after meals.

Fuiwa Canal Kansui Park

A popular waterside spot within walking distance from Toyama Station.

This is a representative waterside park of Toyama City, stretching along the Fugan Canal.

With its spacious lawns, canal-side promenades, and open, expansive views, this area, while within walking distance of Toyama Station, offers a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere for being in the heart of the city.

One of its charms is that you can enjoy different scenery in each season: cherry blossoms in spring, fresh greenery in early summer, crisp air in autumn, and snowscapes in winter.

This bridge and observation tower offer panoramic views of the Fugan Canal and the entire park, making it a symbol of Kansui Park.

On clear days, you can sometimes see the Tateyama mountain range beyond the city of Toyama, making it a great spot for taking photos.

At dusk, soft light reflects on the water's edge, and at night, the Tenmon Bridge and the surrounding park area are illuminated.

This art museum, located right next to Kansui Park, offers a chance to enjoy art and design.

In addition to encountering a diverse range of exhibits, including modern and contemporary art, posters, and chair collections, visitors can enjoy views of Kansui Park and the canal from inside the museum.

For shorter tours, we recommend stopping by not only to see the exhibits but also to enjoy the building and the surrounding scenery.

If you visit the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art, be sure to stop by the rooftop garden, "Onomatopoeia Rooftop." This open rooftop garden features play equipment themed around the sounds and sensations of words. There are play equipment that even small children can enjoy, making it a great place for families. On a clear day, you can sometimes see Kansui Park, the city of Toyama, and even the Tateyama mountain range in the distance. Even if you have limited time to see the exhibits, simply enjoying the view from the rooftop will allow you to easily experience the unique scenery of Toyama and the atmosphere of art.

Toyama Station

After enjoying a stroll around the Kansui Park area, we'll head back to Toyama Station.

Around the station, you'll find a variety of Toyama specialties and souvenirs, including Toyama Black Ramen, Masu Sushi, White Shrimp, and local sake.

It's great as a daytime sightseeing spot, but it's also recommended for a short walk before dinner or a stroll through the illuminated Kansui Park after a meal.
