Tateyama Mountain Foothills Trekking | Hyakken-nameri and Ryujin Falls
Toyama Sightseeing Model Course | 3-4 Hours | Tateyama Foothills Trekking (Hyakken-nameri and Ryujin Falls)
To a gorge of clear streams and monolithic rocks
This is a recommended trekking course located at the foot of Mt. Tateyama, on the outskirts of Toyama City, where you can easily enjoy nature.
Hyakkenname, located at the foot of Mount Tateyama, and Ryujin Falls, situated upstream from it, are popular natural spots where you can enjoy the beautiful gorge scenery created by clear streams and massive single rock formations. The trails are relatively easy to walk and can be enjoyed in 3-4 hours, making them ideal for first-time trekkers or half-day sightseeing.
As you begin walking from the Awasuno ski resort parking lot into the forest, the sound of water gradually grows closer, and soon the view opens up to Hyakken-nameri. The sight of clear water flowing smoothly over a wide, single rock face is so beautiful that you can't help but stop and admire it.
Continuing along the mountain trail for another 15 minutes, you'll arrive at Ryujin Falls, with a drop of approximately 40 meters. The way the water cascades down the rock face is like a dragon ascending to heaven. It offers a powerful and mystical appearance, quite different from Hyakken-nameri.
The surrounding area is also designated as a forest therapy base, offering a healing space enveloped in deep greenery. The path along the stream is relatively easy to walk, making it a course where you can refresh your mind and body in nature.
In summer, you'll be enveloped in the refreshing sound of flowing water and the pleasant shade of the trees, while in autumn, the colorful mountain slopes are reflected in the waterfalls and rocks, making it an excellent season for photography.
Why not spend some time in a quiet forest, surrounded by the pristine nature unique to the foot of Mount Tateyama?
*Check bear sighting information and take precautions such as using bear bells.

The drive from Tateyama Interchange down to the foot of the mountain offers expansive views of the sky and gentle ridgelines.
Surrounded by the forest and the colors of the seasons, my mind gradually settles down.
Take a break around the "Multipurpose Center Millet," where the warmth of wood is soothing.
If you happen to encounter goats grazing freely, you'll be soothed by the "everyday cuteness" of the foothills.

A pristine stream spot where water flows smoothly over the sleek rock face.
This is the perfect spot to take a break in the shade of the trees while listening to the sound of the babbling brook.
There are restrooms nearby, so you can relax and enjoy your stay with peace of mind.
Ryujin Falls
The clear stream, cascading straight down the rocky cliff face, exudes a particularly mystical presence amidst the quiet forest.
The sound of flowing water and the time spent gazing at a waterfall is a moment that soothes the mind.
Another place you should visit is the imposing Ryujin Cedar.
These giant trees, having survived for countless years, seem like guardian spirits watching over this land.
I recommend taking your time to explore the two "main characters of nature": the waterfall and the giant cedar tree.
