Amazake Manju (sweet rice wine bun) / Chikurindo Honpo

Souvenirs

A traditional flavor that has been passed down since the Edo period, with the aroma of amazake (sweet rice wine).

"Amazake manju" is a traditional sweet rice wine bun that has been made since the Edo period.

We make the dough by adding wheat flour to homemade amazake (sweet rice drink) made from fermented Toyama rice and rice koji, then slowly ferment it before wrapping it around strained bean paste made from Hokkaido-grown adzuki beans and steaming it.

The unique flavor, created by the slightly tart skin and the smooth, elegantly sweet filling, continues to be loved by the people of Toyama.

At the Sanno Festival held at Hie Shrine every year on June 1st, these buns are sold as "Tsuitachi Manju" (first-of-the-month buns) and are known as a lucky charm for praying for good health and protection from illness.

[Shelf life] 2 days from manufacture at room temperature
