Masuzushi Naesugi / Sushi Kou
Souvenirs
Each piece of trout sushi is individually wrapped in bamboo leaves, offering a rich aroma.
"Masuzushi Naesugi" uses carefully selected trout and Koshihikari rice from Toyama Prefecture.
The trout sushi is cut into easy-to-eat squares and each piece is carefully wrapped in bamboo leaves from Niigata Prefecture. You can enjoy it easily without the hassle of cutting, and savor the rich aroma of the bamboo leaves.
It is said that this tradition began about a thousand years ago when an imperial envoy sent to Usaka Shrine in what is now Fuchu-machi, Toyama City, was presented with sushi made of trout wrapped in young bamboo leaves as a gift.
The name "Naegisugi" originates from a large tree that is associated with the shrine.
