Ikedaya Yasubei Shoten

This long-established shop allows you to see, touch, and experience the "Toyama medicine peddler" culture that has continued since the Edo period.
Stepping inside this shop, the oldest wooden building in the city center, you're greeted by rows of traditional Japanese and Chinese medicines, herbal teas, and small packets of medicine in nostalgic packaging, making you feel as if time has suddenly rewound.

At the shop, demonstrations and hands-on experiences of making pills using traditional wooden pill-making machines are popular, and even adults find themselves captivated by the process.
On the second floor, there is a restaurant and cafe where you can relax and enjoy healthy medicinal cuisine.

We still manufacture and sell "Hangontan," a representative gastrointestinal medicine from Toyama, and you can also receive counseling from a specialist pharmacist in our store.
