A beach with stunning views of Tateyama Mountains, accessible by streetcar.
Iwasehama Beach, facing Toyama Bay, is a beach that boasts a rare view in Japan, with the Tateyama mountain range visible across the vast blue sea.
The breathtaking scenery, characteristic of Toyama, with its striking contrast between the sea and the mountains, is truly moving.
Located in an easily accessible area from the city center by tram or car, this beach exudes a relaxed and open atmosphere, making it a pleasant seaside spot that has long been cherished by locals.
In addition to swimming in the sea in the summer, you can encounter "special scenery" in every season, such as the time when the sea and sky are dyed red at sunset, or the Tateyama mountain range that stands out clearly against the crisp winter air.
In the surrounding area, including the Iwase Canal Hall, you can still find remnants of the townscape that flourished from the Edo to Meiji periods through the Kitamae-bune trade.
With numerous tourist spots where old and new cultures blend, including facilities renovated from traditional buildings, this popular area offers a relaxing time, perfect for a stroll along the beach.
