The Jōsai Waterway Promenade is a walking path developed along the Jōsai Gōguchi Waterway, which flows alongside the Jōganji River.
In spring, the approximately 1km-long row of cherry trees that covers the irrigation canal transforms into a "cherry blossom tunnel," creating a spectacular walking course with the Tateyama mountain range as a backdrop.

These cherry trees were originally planted around 1955 by a local youth association as part of their volunteer work.
The contrast between the roaring snowmelt water flowing through the irrigation canal and the delicate cherry blossoms is truly a sight to behold.

Around the walking path, you can find remnants of the embankment built by Sassa Narimasa, known as "Sassa Embankment," and "Tonosama Forest," which was developed as a flood control forest. As you stroll along the waterfront, you can also learn about the history of flood control and daily life.

The Jōsai Gōguchi Irrigation System, which has supported local agriculture and livelihoods for many years, was recognized and registered as a World Heritage Irrigation Structure in 2.
