Pear orchards in the Kureha Hills
The flowers reached full bloom on April 14, 2026 (8 days earlier than average). The best time to see them is until mid-April.
The four seasons of the Kureha Hills pear orchards begin with a carpet of white flowers.
Mount Kureha divides the Toyama Plain from east to west.
To the west lies a gently rolling hilly area covered with pear orchards, known for the Kureha pears, a summer delicacy of Toyama. From the surrounding high ground beyond the gently sloping fields, you can sometimes see the Tateyama mountain range.
A landscape typical of Toyama unfolds, with fruit trees and mountain ranges woven together.
In spring, the pear blossoms are in full bloom from mid-April to around Golden Week.
White flowers and fresh green leaves cover the hillside, creating a beautiful scene as if a white and green carpet had been laid out.
In summer, the fruits ripening beneath the lush green leaves shine brightly, and in autumn, the fields, after the harvest, are bathed in a golden glow.
This area, where you can enjoy different scenery throughout the four seasons, is also a popular spot for its breathtaking views that allow you to feel the changing of the seasons.
Kureha pears are harvested from early August to around October.
・Early August ~: “Kosui”
Late August to mid-September: "Hosui"
・Mid-to-late September: "Akizuki"
These varieties will be released one after another.
Its sweet and juicy flavor has made it a representative taste of summer in Toyama, and it is widely enjoyed in supermarkets and direct sales outlets throughout the prefecture.
