Sightseeing

A day exploring Toyama's "mini museum park"

An area where nature and culture harmonize, at the foot of Mt. Kureha, where you can encounter the profound charm of Toyama.
A fulfilling cultural stroll through a group of nine facilities, including museums dedicated to history, folk art, fine arts, and archaeology, as well as a tea room and a clay doll workshop.
At the Maruyama-an tea room, you can enjoy matcha tea and sweets, and at the pottery museum and clay doll workshop, you can easily enjoy hands-on experiences such as painting.
You can experience Toyama's unique culture and art at places like the Traditional Medicine Museum and the Takamura Gyujin Memorial Art Museum.
A location where you can enjoy nearby attractions such as the Five Hundred Arhats and the Kurehayama Observatory.

Nestled at the foot of the lush green Kureha Mountain, the Toyama City Folk Art Village is a "cultural sanctuary" where nature and culture harmoniously coexist.

This area is home to nine museums showcasing Toyama's lifestyle and culture, including folk art, fine arts, history, and folklore, creating a museum park where you can encounter Toyama's rich stories with every step you take.

Each of the buildings is uniquely individual, and the more you explore them slowly, the more you'll discover their profound charm. Examples include the "Folk Craft Gassho Museum," which utilizes a traditional gassho-zukuri building; the "Medicine Museum," which introduces Toyama's traditional industries; and the Memorial Museum, where you can immerse yourself in the world of local painter Gyujin Takamura.

At the Maruyama-an tea room, the popular choice is the matcha tea and Japanese sweets (700 yen) that can be enjoyed casually in a standing-style setting.
At the "Clay Doll Workshop," you can enjoy the exhibition and sale of clay dolls, as well as try your hand at painting them, while relaxing and unwinding in the tranquil countryside.

The surrounding area also features the Five Hundred Arhats, the monument to Sasa Narimasa's shaving of his head, and the Kurehayama Observatory, making it a recommended area for a gentle stroll where you can enjoy both nature and culture.
