Toyama City Library
A moment of relaxation surrounded by light, books, and art. Featured in the New York Times.
Located in the "TOYAMA Kirari" complex in the heart of Toyama City, the Toyama City Library is characterized by its warm, woody interior, designed by world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma.
This bright and stylish library is bathed in soft natural light streaming in through a large atrium.
We have approximately 45 general and children's books, as well as around 500 magazine titles, making it easy to find specialized magazines and back issues that are hard to come by in regular bookstores.
The library offers a variety of reading seats to suit your mood, and the window seats on the north side are particularly special, offering a leisurely view of the Tateyama mountain range, streetcars, and the townscape on a clear day.
With its warm, inviting atmosphere thanks to the use of wood, as well as spacious table seating, this place caters to your mood each day.
There is a stroller parking area and rental service available, so you can relax even if you are bringing children.
The same building also houses the Toyama Glass Art Museum, a cafe, and a shop, allowing you to enjoy art, take a break with a book, and relax at the cafe.
You can have such a wonderful day right here.
